August

  • Made and verified backups of both production machines yesterday. Updated the diaspora* pod to 0.7.0.0. Jukeboksi (talk) 16:14, 21 August 2017 (EEST)

June

  • Should try to figure out what this means https://opencorporates.com/info/licence. They have a database of over a hundred million companies and we would probably try to use them as a data source if their license is good to copyleft. Juboxi (talk) 13:55, 26 June 2017 (EEST)
  • Friendica upgraded to 2.5.2 'Asparagus'. Also all other social media brought to up-to-date. Juboxi (talk) 21:22, 20 June 2017 (EEST)
  • Made, verified and distributed backups of both production servers. Juboxi (talk) 21:15, 20 June 2017 (EEST)
  • The user database of this Development Wiki is 68k rows long and out of those maybe 150-200 are real people and the rest just automatically registered in the crapflooding incidents of the turn of the decade before introducing CAPTCHA deterrent. This really speaks against using this botnet filled user database from being the mw:Extension:CentralAuth-oneJuboxi (talk) 17:27, 15 June 2017 (EEST)
Probably going to set up cmmns.consumerium.org (a Consumerium Commons setup) and en.consumerium.org (a Semantic MediaWiki) installation with mw:Extension:CentralAuth without risking this wiki going broken. Juboxi (talk) 15:10, 20 June 2017 (EEST)
  • The Björneborg hosting guys have released their new w:OpenStack based cloud platform: https://tavu.io/ It has better services with approximately the same prices as the old VPS infra has. Juboxi (talk) 21:21, 1 June 2017 (EEST)
  • Going to get on cracking on enabling mw:Extension:CentralAuth so we can move on to create an actual content wiki with Semantic MediaWiki enabled. Juboxi (talk) 19:28, 1 June 2017 (EEST)
  • Reinstalling laptop Kubuntu 17.04 again. This time gave it 16GB swap to see if it will actually start and run at reasonable speed with the wikidata.org complete dump to load into BlazeGraph that wants to register 17.2GB RAM so if I try with nothing much else running it should be able to start. Juboxi (talk) 14:46, 1 June 2017 (EEST)

May

  • Made and verified backups of both production servers. Upgraded diaspora* to 0.6.6.0 Juboxi (talk) 19:11, 31 May 2017 (EEST)
  • Added the new competition to lists of price comparison services. Also doing a manual sweep of all links for stale or acquisitioned/mergered ones. Juboxi (talk) 13:09, 21 May 2017 (EEST)
  • I will go through the most important lists for changes and removed. Also going to harvest the Wikipedia categories again for any additions. Juboxi (talk) 12:55, 20 May 2017 (EEST)
Removals and changes DONE! Juboxi (talk) 17:48, 22 May 2017 (EEST)
  • I am going to try to make at least 5 SPARQL queries per week on the Wikidata endpoint that reveal something of interest for Consumerium services. Juboxi (talk) 12:50, 20 May 2017 (EEST)
  • Installed wikidata-query-rdf but that wanted to reserve 17.2GB of RAM which I don't have. Need to look into starting with smaller set of datasets than the complete Wikidata.org graph database. Juboxi (talk) 14:50, 16 May 2017 (EEST)
  • Installed Blazegraph on the storage server and on my laptop and both start up fine. Blazegraph enjoys ample memory I hear so I will probably try to load the Wikidata complete dataset (135GB !) without running out of diskspace. WMF uses Blazegraph for their query points. Juboxi (talk) 14:00, 16 May 2017 (EEST)

Blazegraph is what WMF uses for Wikidata services. Can handle up to 50 gigaedges per machine and is well extendable over many machines
  • Bought a VPS with 1TB disk from the hosting guys in Lithuania to explore the different semantic data sets out there. Juboxi (talk) 00:27, 16 May 2017 (EEST)
  • Migrated the Esbo machine from MySQL to MariaDB (mariadb.com:s five step guide). Stop mysqld with 'sudo mysqladmin stop' and issue the 'sudo apt install mariadb-server' and answer 'Yes' to the prompt apt gives you.
  • Need to book some tickets so will use that as an opportunity to catch up on developments in the Lists of price comparison services and update accordingly. Juboxi (talk) 16:52, 13 May 2017 (EEST)
  • Upgraded this Development Wiki to 1.28.2. Lemme know if something seems broken. Juboxi (talk) 16:02, 13 May 2017 (EEST)
  • Something seemed slightly wrong with the GNU social upgrade from 1.2.0-beta4 to 1.2.0-beta5. Turned out that 1.2.0-beta4 is the production version and 1.2.0-beta5 is currently the nightly builds so there was no upgrade. Juboxi (talk) 15:19, 13 May 2017 (EEST) updated Juboxi (talk) 17:43, 13 May 2017 (EEST)
  • Upgraded Hubzilla to version 2.2. Juboxi (talk) 15:15, 13 May 2017 (EEST)
  • Upgraded Friendica to Friendica 'Asparagus' 3.5.1. Juboxi (talk) 15:14, 13 May 2017 (EEST)
