Consumerium:Intermediate page format
Consumerium intermediate page format suggested originally at Talk:Main_Page is the style of pages in the Research Wiki/Content Wiki. There are expected to be at least six types of such pages, and just enough examples of each type here in the Development Wiki to guide us to a pilot:
- Consumerium:intermediate commodity pages, e.g. for cocoa, charcoal
- Consumerium:intermediate product pages, e.g. for McDonald's KitKat McFlurry
- Consumerium:intermediate company pages, e.g. for CIV, McDonald's
- Consumerium:intermediate country pages, e.g. for Haiti, Liberia, Indonesia
- Consumerium:intermediate region pages, e.g. for Sumatra, Niagara, to focus in on ecoregion and urban regions with specific abuse issues or opportunities to support great initiatives, e.g. Slow Food or Peace Committees.
- Consumerium:intermediate channel pages, e.g. for friendly retail, worn device, mobile device vendor profiling. This page would largely serve to help people identify healthy signal infrastructure concerns and make choices to, e.g. minimize tantallum use, or maximize Consumerium Service access, or otherwise patronize our friends (and punish our enemies out of business entirely). See buy book for examples of how this might be done. Effectively these pages are about the institutional buying criteria of the Consumerium Governance Organization itself, and how it expands operations. Note that we probably are somewhat more forgiving of various bad practices by suppliers essential to build out the infrastructure initially, but that we must swap out bad suppliers for good ones over time. These pages might go away when the healthy signal infrastructure is stable all over the planet!
Elements of each type of page are dealt with separately as linked above. They will have some format elements in common, e.g.
- Consumerium:Consensus - Summarizes majority user opinions, with documented sources, similar to Neutral point of view but with some means of balancing systemic biases
- and then factionally defined or at least faction-scored
- Consumerium:Criticisms of X - Arguments against product/company.
- Consumerium:Praise for X - Arguments for product/company.
- and then perhaps individually authored Campaigns or comments, which might be seen only by those who trust those people as individuals, these could be arranged so that there is a
- Consumerium:Campaigns on X page wherein the scores combined with a link to distinct campaign pages are collected and this page is used to record campaign balances for The Consumerium Exchange type of collation of opinions. Notice the design change from Opinion Wiki plans wherein the score was a sub-page of the campaign in question. This new approach is more workable since campaign effect (automatic cascading was previously discussed) can be manually changed and campaigns have become more flexible wherein the same campaign that has a -2 score for Company X can also affect Company Y with a score of +2 for example.
If your individual buying criteria are constructed strictly from those of factions, weighing them in some way, it becomes easy to decide what will be shown to you. This is called intermediate page because it is not in the final display form, but is sucked in to some program that generates the Consumerium buying signal, e.g. in Python to present on worn device.
At least two approaches are possible to processing intermediate page information
- ONLY this information would be processed into the Signal Wiki to become the Consumerium buying signal. If it's not on the intermediate page, it's not part of that signal! This focuses all editing attention on the intermediate page. ConsuML information is always expressed here on the intermediate page and is updated as the ConsuML pages change.
- Intermediate page is processed into ConsuML with other facts from other sources we did not assemble, if only to make sure we aren't responsible for checking them all. This combined source goes into the Signal Wiki to be edited last minute say by lawyers or potentially by some process that makes it easy for Consumerium Governance Organization to claim that it did what it was legally required to.
See metaweb intermediate page for an idea of how a generic intermediate page should be constructed, though they are more likely to call their editor-groupings a phyle than a faction for reasons having to do with their mandate to extend w:Neal Stephenson's work.
