Where do the social economy and moral purchasing power intersect?

starting from stupidity[edit | edit source]

"In a recent interview, Howard Rheingold (author of Smart Mobs) discussed the possibility of a 'new economic system' born of 'unconscious cooperation' embodied by such technologies as Google links and Amazon.com lists, Wikipedia, wireless devices using unlicensed spectrum, Web logs, and open source software." Trolls of course defy this model and are very often accused of conciously cooperating in troll organizations.

"Rheingold speculates that 'the technology of the Internet, reputation systems, online communities, mobile devices...may make some new economic system possible... We had markets, then we had capitalism, and socialism was a reaction to industrial-era capitalism. There's been an assumption that since communism failed, capitalism is triumphant, therefore humans have stopped evolving new systems for economic production.'" - [1] That of course is an assumption only of the capitalist elite in countries where all economic development has stalled. Trolls continue the development anyway, and would consider this idea that communism "failed" to be, simply, stupidity. The emergence of the Wikipedia Red Faction proves it is still very viable.

struggle makes society[edit | edit source]

A robust social economy consisting of cooperating parties doing voluntary social and ecological work at all scales and across all borders, defying any power structure to knit strong factions together that can defy any one sysop power structure even at Wikipedia, is the community building that creates social capital based on resistance to sysop vandalism and promotion of troll-sysop struggle. In other words, through trolling and troll-friendly practices, all trolls including sysops must eventually encounter each other's perspective, negotiate, and find political virtues in common. These virtues enable more rapid formation of social capital itself, so that grown trust soon outstrips found trust in any given web forum.

The social network software that enables this best will be Consumerium Services, which unlike other social software is founded on the most basic principle of gnawlij: suppressed information is (at least slightly) more likely to be true. Accordingly, trolls are (at least slightly) more likely to be correct, and the New Troll point of view must become the Consumerium buying signal almost by definition - a near perfect gnawlij expression.

favor and barter[edit | edit source]

Where Consumerium Services fit into a larger social economy is less clear. Suw Charman relates (based on sourcesBusiness 4Site and eWeek) that "Jas Dhillon, president and CEO of ZeroDegrees Inc. considers the most important motivator to be the favour economy - the mutually beneficial nature of online business relationships. However, Antony Brydon, co-founder and CEO of Visible Path Corp. considers cold, hard cash to be the best incentive."

According to eWeek, Brydon "dismissed the notion that goodwill alone will motivate people to join and become engaged in social networking. No way, Brydon said. The favor economy is where we started, and we quickly moved to the barter economy and then the economy economy. Its an ideological point that will become a real issue for what to do to move things along faster [in this industry]. How this all relates to ecological yield and growth in natural capital, only trolls can say probably. No doubt they will.
