Consumerium:Vandalism

August 25 2005

Ok folks... We had the worst vandalism attack where some stupid idiot claiming to be a certain user of Wikipedia posted the "F"-word repeatedly and excessively all over the place in between 5:42 and 5:46 w:GMT August 25 2005. How creative. Luckily our backups were up-to-date and I was able to restore the whole site from a backup made yesterday. Let's hope this sort of idiocy doesn't repeat too often. There is a lesson to be learned from this. I made a change in the database should prohibit redirection anywhere outside of Consumerium development wiki, because the vandal used this possibility to make her/his identity claim seem, umm, like, more credible. --Juxo 15:48, 25 Aug 2005 (GMT)

Repeated the attack on August 26 from a different IP then last time (the old IP was blocked, but this does not show as the database was again restored from a back-up)

August 27 2005

Propably the same vandal. A different username this time because I seized the account he was using previously. The interwiki redirection trick worked, because I forgot to disable it in the DB after the last db restore from MySQL dump
