Consumer Reports (.org) offers comparisons of competing products in a myriad of different product groups.
Their mission statement is "We test, inform, and protect."
Consumer Reports has been Online since at least 1998 [1], but it has existed in a printed form since 1936 in the USA. Currently the printed magazine has 4 million subscribers.
Consumer Reports is run by the Consumers Union, an independent, nonprofit, organisation.
http://www.consumerreportsonhealth.org is a sister site of Consumer Reports, that focuses on consumer health issues
