This could become a good article on the events driving Consumerium into existence.

This is quite heavy stuff. There is much writing about Globalization in many places.

I could spend more time on important framing questions like this if I did not have to go and defend what is being stupidly called "redlinking". If you do not like looking at red links, turn this misfeature off. Or, even more constructively, ask the MediaWiki developers to offer more choices for open links at the sysop level than just "edit this page, please". Like, for instance, an auto-redirect to Wikipedia (or whatever URL prefix is specified) if the page doesn't exist here yet.

Inter-wiki cooperation has been scetched somewhere around here and how to do it wisely is a question worth pondering over carefully. That autoredirect thing could work for this R&D stuff but not so well for production phase
Agreed. There's more on this on the blog page. In production, these concepts are mostly only used to organize meta discussion, so, it's only in the R&D phase they arise. By the time we are in production, we should probably be trying to refer to Simple English Wikipedia instead of Full English - any concepts we actually need in production are concepts that probably all people working in the world need to know about!
