this is now complete enough to let the MediaWiki developers hack on it and add all the wonderful things they HAVE done (not "WILL" do), and also fair enough to invite TikiWiki and MoinMoin zealots here to hack up the page too - remember that since this we are using MediaWiki, we're strongly biased to it, and so, we should expect to have to do much more work to get anyone to bother explaining why we should drop it.

Why don't we just require everyone to deliever their contributions as PowerPoint slide shows?
That evens out the presentation advantage. But it will ensure we all end up buying Microsoft. LOL. How about requiring XML based presentations instead?
Just invite everyone to edit this page. But like I say it will be hard to convince MoinMoin or TikiWiki zealots to come here and submit their work to a MediaWiki-based forum. Also it would be good to know what technology that http://nationmaster.com is using - they seem to be doing a really good job of compiling public data.
So far these "dedicated developers" don't seem to give a damn if their code is useful for anything but Wikipedia and its sysop power structure. If by end of March they don't get into this technology debate, then, it would be appropriate to remove their participation as a plus for MediaWiki.

It would be interesting to compare how each of these development processes handles the styles of capital it comes into touch with. Not listening to end user feedback for instance would seem to stress out individual capital more, and rely too much on social capital (trust of users by developers) to get the information where it needs to go. All very important.

"Pear" is not a "requirement", it is a technology. And it's being replaced by better technologies.

It's time to remove all references to R&D wiki since ampersands in titles just don't work. So the references will be to Development Wiki, with the Opinion Wiki renamed Research Wiki, and Content Wiki renamed Signal Wiki, unless a better solution to remove the ampersands materializes.

This will have to be done sooner, maybe a week, since there is getting to be a lot of reference to the roles of these three proposed large public wikis.
