Community building happens in the real world among real people who can at least hear, touch, smell, hit and protect each other. Without these affordances it is impossible to have a community. Under this definition, the idea of online community is an oxymoron.
Consumerium itself never claims to be engaged in any community building. The most it will say is that it might be helping form factions and to reconcile terms factionally defined in real world debates.
Much Wikimedia corruption is due to the claim that some kind of community is involved or being created by simply typing.
