Managed to turn debugging on finally and found the problem causing the slow saves. Now saves are fast as lightning (or almost).

forgot to sign. good news too.. The <ref>contentgoeshere<ref/> tags can be made to work with XML exporting the appropriate templates onto the study wiki and all the original references ( from Wikipedia ) should work just fine

January: There is a broken CAPTCHA or few around here causing slowness and apparently inability to edit the wiki for users other then me.

January: Made and verified backups. If you haven't loaded them into a reference system to make sure they work should the need arise you cannot call them backups.
