Slander

Slander is spoken defamatory comment. It does not refer to published material which is covered instead by libel laws. Calling something by the name slander however is considered to be an example of libel chill.

Hate speech is an extreme legal definition of slander against whole groups and tends to include both written and spoken expression, as a limit on free expression.
