The page view is the normal means of measuring web traffic. It is a key factor in determining the resale value of second level domains especially in the ".com", ".net" and ".org" top level domains. Accordingly much wiki spam is motivated by simple desire to increase the page views. This is also a motive in Wikimedia corruption, as control of Wikimedia leads to far more hits on Bomis than would otherwise be the case.
MediaWiki shows page view data on all wiki pages. You may see it below as
- "This page has been accessed N times."
where N is the number of page views.
Despite this capability, however, detailed page view data is not available for Wikipedia pages themselves, which is another sign of Wikimedia corruption.
