How about a standard that the name of metrics we hate and want not used is always abbreviated wherever possible, but the full name of metrics we want is always spelled out in full? So GDP and net domestic product have the actual articles, and it's clear at a glance that GDP is just an icon we hate, while "net domestic product" is (unlike gross) something real and meaningful.
