• Turvapaikka on vainon tai sellaisen perustellun epäilyn takia yleensä toisesta valtiosta myönnetty, tämän valtion suojaama asema. Vainon syynä voi olla etninen alkuperä, uskonto, kansallisuus, tiettyyn yhteiskunnalliseen ryhmään kuuluminen tai poliittinen mielipide. • Turvapaikanhakija ( asylum seeker ) on henkilö, joka pyytää suojelua ja oleskeluoikeutta vieraasta maasta. Jos hän on suojelun tarpeessa ja hänelle myönnetään turvapaikka, hän saa myös pakolaisaseman.

Pakolaisaseman voi saada henkilö, jolla on perusteltua aihetta pelätä joutuvansa vainotuksi rodun, uskonnon, kansallisuuden, tiettyyn yhteiskunnalliseen ryhmään kuulumisen tai poliittisen mielipiteen vuoksi.

• Pakolainen on yleiskielessä henkilö, joka joutuu syntyperänsä, uskontonsa, mielipiteidensä tms. vuoksi vainoa peläten pakenee vieraaseen maahan.

Kaikki kotimaastaan paenneet eivät ole pakolaisia. Jotta ihminen määriteltäisiin pakolaiseksi, hänelle on täytynyt myöntää pakolaisen asema eli pakolaisstatus.

Pakolaisuutta koskee ja sitä määrittelee Geneven pakolaissopimus vuodelta 1951 ja sen pöytäkirja vuodelta 1967.

Määritelmän mukaan eivät esimerkiksi sota, nälänhätä tai ympäristökatastrofi ole varsinaisesti pakolaiseksi oikeuttavia syitä. Planning the graphical image

• Light eminating from a screen is expressed within the RGB color model. Combining all three lights; Red, Green and Blue gives white light.
• Color printed on paper is usually expressed within the CMYK color model. Combining all colors; Cyan, Magenta and Yellow gives an impure black. The 'K' represents the black ink used to make pure black and grays.

• For consumer to perceive same color in print media and display device one must match RGB lights to CMYK colors and CMYK colors to RGB lights

Planning the video production

• Jubo-jubo's review of video editing software - My favorites are naturally the FOSS and/or run on GNU/Linux video editors. The only one I have actual hands on experience is w:kdenlive which is readily available for all *NIX flavours ( GNU/Linux, OS X, FreeBSD )

Planning the print production

• w:Inkscape is the leading w:FOSS w:vector drawing program available for all platforms
• w:GIMP is the program of choice when you need to do edit w:bitmap w:images while on the w:copyleft tip
• w:LibreOffice is free-er then w:OpenOffice some say but we all know they both are free-er then Microsoft Office

• Print cost depends on print lot. Painokulut riippuvat painoerästä.
• Full 4-color ( w:CMYK ) booklet or just covers in color ? ( save money )

Planning the web presence

• Choosing and registering a domain

.org? .fi? .de? or something else?

Available from a wide and varied field of w:domain name registrars of varying quality ~ 12€-and-up / annum + VAT

Registering 3 domains: An .org for the website and a .fi and a .de for marketing purposes. Cost for such would be 50€ / annum.

• Acquiring a w:virtual private server ( starting from 10€ / month + VAT ) or webhotel from a cloud purveyor for around the same price to host the website
• Deciding on w:content management system to use.

w:LAMP stands for Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP it can be considered a widespread proven framework in making low cost computing solutions. Wikipedia uses LAMP to serve their millions and millions of daily hits.

Once the hosting guys have made us an instance of w:GNU/Linux it takes a line of instructing the w:aptitude w:package manager to install the AMP portion

• Wordpress(.org) is a popular choice available free of charge. Originally a blogging platform but these days so much more.

• What additional services? refugee w:wiki ? information service w:web chat refugees and asylum seekers ?

• w:MediaWiki that runs w:Wikipedia and also numrous other smaller wikis, even this one is by far the most sophisticated, stable and reliable w:wiki engine there is. Jubo-jubo recommends if we want to start and sustain a wiki as some kind of information resource
• I have never really looked into the hosting a chat on a website field but could do so in a few days time

* Wikipedia's list of web chat software lists a few that can be embedded onto a website by single line of code in the website

* w:Comparison of instant messaging protocols may be of use.
