This is a feature that may get implemented as the product recognition problem gets solved in a easy to use manner.

When a consumer notices that some shelf is out-of-stock or low-on-stock they can send a message to the store system if in-store communication is provided ie. Friendly retail provides Bluetooth connections. This alerts the store staff to check if they have some in storage areas and if not to order some more.

This feature may have a slight effect on employablity of retail since this a task usually performed by staff.
