End user feedback is really really important. Without it, people get very frustrated. The ISO 9000 work description system specifies that people should always have a chance to say what they think about what they are doing, without reprisals from sysops, infrastructure owners, or other slavemasters.

Wiki code will become good, or stay or be crap, based on this, and this alone. History shows that if coders get to decide what goes in, they will make features only useful to themselves, and probably destroy the whole project. A good evidence of this is that after 20 years, no good GPL user interface has arrived, most people still use MacOS and Windows for their desktop.
