    I could spend more time on important framing questions like this if I did not have to go and defend what is being stupidly called "redlinking".  If you do not like looking at red links, turn this misfeature off.  Or, even more constructively, ask the [[MediaWiki]] developers to offer more choices for open links at the sysop level than just "edit this page, please".  Like, for instance, an auto-redirect to Wikipedia (or whatever URL prefix is specified) if the page doesn't exist here yet.
